Lauren Carr Pottery, Watercolor, Sculpture, Mixed Media

Lauren Conway Carr was born in Massachusetts, raised in New Hampshire and Maine and has always called Winter Harbor, Maine, home. She moved to Florida with her husband in 1981 and has lived in the same home in New Port Richey ever since.

In the early 80’s, Lauren opened a ceramic shop named “The Kiln Works”. She taught patrons all phases of creating ceramic pieces from pouring slip into the molds to hand painting green ware using different techniques and under-glazes.

Lauren attended classes at Marchman Technical School to learn Autocad, drafting and joined her husband in opening Cad Design, Inc., a drafting service for local builders and individuals in 1988.Due to the demands of Cad Design Lauren sold the Kiln Works in 1989.

“Through art, I mend all things broken” is a favorite saying as she finds the potential animal or bird in the smallest broken twig, piece of bark, stick and palm frond. She revels in the potential beauty of a broken plate turned into a lovely mosaic, or and shoe transformed into a beautiful animal. She has an equal love of art and animal and tries to capture the “Soul” of her creations, sharing her imagination with one and all, imparting knowledge of art, and sharing the enthusiasm and culture are her ultimate goals.
